Annie Hejny

Annie Hejny is a Minnesota-born visual artist, intentionally exploring the local environment to create abstract paintings and drawings.

Over the past four years, she has successfully completed over 30 commissioned projects for galleries, private collections, and public institutions, locally and nationwide.

In June 2015, she participated in the Women's Art Institute (WAI) studio intensive at St. Catherine University. In June 2016, she returned as a WAI Teaching Assistant and completed a two-year professional mentorship/protégée program through Women's Art Resources of Minnesota (WARM).

She was artist-in-residence with Lanesboro Arts (2017), The Science Museum of Minnesota Pine Needles Residency (2018), and the Grand Marais Art Colony (September 2019). She has exhibited her art in many solo and group exhibitions. Her largest solo exhibition to-date at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum (2018) received 10,000+ visitors and one painting remains in the museum's permanent collection.

She has been a part of many community conversations around water at events and venues such as the Water Bar, Water Action Day, Friends of the Mississippi River, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, and the Summit Hill Association for a Field Day with Linwood Elementary in St. Paul. She resides in St. Paul and continues to explore ways to honor the land and water that she loves.
