Pope’s large-scale impasto “celebrity” series of the Australian musician Nick Cave reflects my visual interpretation of the famous Australian rock singer's intense, dark, gothic, oftentimes melancholy music…They are at once immersive, intimate, and confrontational, and are intended to evoke the inscrutable pathos of celebrity.
